But overall much less than I thought there was going to be. But then Joey got me focused on the next task at hand (probably just in effort to distract me from the widening distance between my parents and I at that moment) which was to be to handle our "Virginia" paperwork (DMV stuff, etc). So we started filling out paperwork before 8am that morning to make sure that we had all our ducks in a row before walking into the DMV because we all know how pleasant that is and we didn't want to do it more than once.
So we got ready, grabbed our paperwork, and started our plan of attack. We had to get our cars inspected first before we could get our cars registered. No problem, they said, it will take 30 minutes per car and it will cost $16 each. Sweet...no wait. 5 hours, 2 new tires, one new air filter, a new check engine light, and $350 later we have our cars officially inspected. Bummer.
But let's finish this day out...on to the DMV with our paperwork all prepared! This should be a breeze, right?! Wrong...as with anything our government is in control of, they have to make it so much harder than necessary. So after talking to the DMV bouncer, we left (me in a huff with Joey behind me) and headed BACK to the car place to check on that awesome check-engine light that wasn't on earlier and also figure out why my car is lurching forward when shifting gears (also wasn't occurring earlier in the day). Evidently it was a valve cover that had gotten knocked loose in the inspection process so reconnect and no big deal....but by this time it is 3pm, we have been on our journey to nowhere for 6 hours now, and I have a raging headache so I insisted we just. go. home. for. the. love. of. all. that. is. holy.
A 4 hour nap did the trick though ;)

The DMV was definitely a distraction, but did Joey plan that much of a distraction? HA!
