Does it really have to be this hard?

Unfortunately when we move to Richmond my OB will not, in fact, come with me.  This means that I have to find a new one....when I am 32 weeks pregnant no less.  So I did the responsible, logical thing and asked my new program coordinator for recommendations.  No sweat, she sent me two.
I called the first about a week ago and had the pleasure of talking to a member of the front desk staff that obviously thought she was more educated than me.  She took my information and then read on her instructions that "all first time OB patients must see a Nurse Practitioner and on future visits can see a doctor."  I understand that she was following protocol but what she didn't understand was that I didn't care.  I appreciate and respect the privilege of nurses to help with OB care, but I will be 32 weeks pregnant and would at least like to meet the doctor that will deliver me ONCE before the actual delivery.  So she got snappy with me....unnecessarily.

So I got off the phone with Precious (I'm sure her name was something like this....at least it would have been had she lived in Alabama and not Virginia) and called my OB who BY THE WAY agreed with me.  She called and spoke with a different staffer who said, "Oh, she's already pregnant?  Well she needs to see a doctor!"  Novel idea.

Fast forward one week.  I finally have an appointment with a doctor for right before we start work.  That way Joey can meet the doctor too.  Does it really have to be this hard?
